Paver Patio Trends 2025

Concrete paver patios have continued to evolve in the last forty years since the first major manufacturers began production. Paver technology has improved, design styles have expanded, and popularity has grown exponentially. Some of the changes are trendy and unlikely to withstand the test of time. Other changes are improving more timeless aspects of paver patios. What’s trendy and what’s timeless with concrete pavers in 2025?

Larger pavers continue to be more popular with clients. The manufacturers have responded with expanded large size product line. Techo-bloc is the industry leader in all aspects of paver products, but especially with the options of larger sizes. The BLU-60 product has been their flagship paver for many years. It is a three size mix of larger pavers. The largest being 13”x19’, the smallest 13”x6”. The larger size pavers translates to less paver joints. This creates a cleaner, more timeless and contemporary style. Less paver joints also means less maintenance or time, less potential for weeds and easier arrangement of furniture.

Paver color options continue to become more natural in appearance. Color quality is a main differentiator between manufacturers. The leasers like Techo-Bloc have developed the most natural colors, the most bold colors and the most aesthetically pleasing. Paver trends lean into bold color accents with rich terracotta, deep charcoals, even vibrant metallics. Landscape designers are mixing products and patterns to create diverse geometries with kealeidoscpes of color. This approach is not for everyone and it is not timeless. But they can be fabulous. We tend toward more timeless and classic designs. Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep to colors neutral. This allows the outdoor furnishing and the rest of the landscape to shine.

Texture is the recent change in paver patio that have created the biggest preference shift among clients. Smooth texture pavers are back. The very first paver patios were simply a smooth concrete. These go back to the 60’s. Mostly sold as stepping stones, but used for patios as well. Then the paver patio product we know today came to popularity in the 90’s. Those paver patio products aimed to recreate the look of natural products. This was a driving theme in many construction industry products in the later part of the 20th century. Pavers tired to look like real stone. We are over that in 2025 (mostly). The smooth paver finish is back. The look is clean, classic and contemporary. And they are much easier to keep clean. The majority of our clients have picked smooth in recent year.

Paver finishes continue to improve. The high quality companies have developed new top layer technologies to extend the lifespan of the product. Pavers wear over time eventually showing the concrete aggregates inside the product. These new technologies add denser top layers with hybrid extrusions to minimize that top layer aging.
