The History

The landscaping office of Garden Design, Inc was built in 1867 as a hotel. The original structure was converted into a dry goods emporium in 1876. During the next 100 years it had three successive additions that produced the building that you see today. It served as an official United States Post Office, a gas station, a feed and seed store, and a gathering place for the neighborhood farming community. In 1976, it became the headquarters to one of the Lehigh Valley's most successful real estate agencies. For 25 years, all of the agents of Don Frederick brought their customers through the front doors. This corner location has been a landmark in the Lehigh Valley for over 100 years.

The Location

The historic general store sits at the crossroads of Wescosville, PA. As the city of Allentown - Macungie's nearest neighbor to the east - sprawled outward in the last century, the general store became a stop on the main highway between the Lehigh Valley and points west.
